✦ Synopsis

A two-dimensional supercritical fluid-supercritical fluid chromatography system was constructed. A packed 4.6 mm X 250 mm 5 Fm silica column was used as the first dimensional column to do group-type separation of gas oil samples under SFC downstream conditions. A 10 m 50 p m i.d. methyl capillary column was used as the second-dimensional column under SFC upstream condition to separate components of the according to their boiling points. The two columns were connected by a stop-flow valve and between columns there was a "T" connector too. The "T"-connector serves to split the flow after the first column. The less amount goes through the capillary column to a FID, the larger amount gets into a diode array detector. The separation of sample by the packed column can be monitored by the UV diode array detector that helps to set the correct switching time. The head pressure of the capillary column is controlled by the downstream's nozzle. At the end of the capillary column there is a fixed restrictor in front of the FID. The split ratio can be set with this restrictor and the nozzle.
