A thin-layer chromatographic method utilizing ultracold temperatures has been developed to separate phosphoglycerides containing only long-chain saturated fatty acids from phosphoglycerides containing fatty acids with any degree of unsaturation. The method is direct, nondiluting, and nondestructive.
