ketones are treated with sodium thiolates oaly the a-monosulfeaylated ketoaes are formed. Evideace is put forward that the reaction mechaah proceeds by aa initial aucleophilic substitutioa of oae bromo atOm aad reducha by single electron transfer (SET) -hydrogea atom abstractioa of the second bromo atom.
