โœฆ Synopsis

We report both measured and calculated rotationally resolved threshold photoelectron spectra for single-photon coherent VUV ionization of the L% 'A, ground state ofjet-cooled HsO and Has. Agreement between the calculated and measured spectra is very encouraging. Both the Hz0 and HsS spectra show type a transitions which arise from odd angular momentum components of the photoelectron matrix element and are quite molecular in origin. These type a transitions, however, are much weaker in HsS due to its more atomiclike character.

The photodissociation of Hz0 in the vacuum UV (X < 135 run) generates rotationally aligned populations of OH(A 2S> fragments. ## Four highdrotational lines in the ground state of Ha0 and one in the y= 2 state have been measured in the laboratory. One of them, 174,13-167.1~ in the ground state, is predicted to be an interstellar maser line under certain physical conditions. Following the laboratoty measurements, the 17 ~,

We report the 488 nm photoelectron spectra of the mass-selected Cr2H-and Cr& anions. The electron affinity of Cr2H is 1.474 k 0.005 eV. Frequencies are reported for all three vibrational modes in both the neutral molecules and the anions, and their structures and bonding properties are discussed.
