β¦ Synopsis
Four highdrotational
lines in the ground state of Ha0 and one in the y= 2 state have been measured in the laboratory. One of them, 174,13-167.1~ in the ground state, is predicted to be an interstellar maser line under certain physical conditions. Following the laboratoty measurements, the 17 ~,i3-16,.i0 line was indeed detected toward the oxygen-rich supergiant star VYCMa. The measured frequencies obtained here will assist further astronomical searches.
