## Abstract The 28th domestic Symposium on Heteroatom Chemistry of the Chemical Society of Japan was held at Saitama Culture Center in Saitama during the period of December 12โ14, and about 250 chemists from various academic institutes and industries took part in the symposium. There were four plen
When an โฃ-seleno carbonyl compound was reacted with an aldehyde in the presence of TiCl 4 and Ph 3 P, a highly stereoselective formation of an aldol derivative could be realized. Highly stereoselective reactions of b-trimethylsilylsulfoxides were also described.
The 18th Symposium, organized by Professor Katsuyuki Ogura of Chiba Institute of Technology, was very successful, with about 250 participants in attendance. There were 46 oral presentations of 24 minutes each and 4 plenary lectures. The first plenary lecture was presented by Professor Toru Koizumi
