✦ Synopsis
Single crystals of the title compound, [Co(NO 3 )(C 10 H 8 N 2 ) 2 ]-(OH)(NO 3 )Á4H 2 O, were obtained from a Co 2+ -2,2 0 -bipyridine-CrO 4 2À mixture as the second crystalline product. The present single-crystal study confirms a previous refinement [Reimann, Zocchi, Mighell & Santoro (1971). Acta Cryst. B27, 2211-2218], and also includes all H-atom positions, which were identified from a difference map. The structure displays an O-HÁ Á ÁO hydrogen-bonding network between the noncoordinated nitrate group, the hydroxide anion and the water molecules, forming a framework around the distorted octahedral Co complex. A twofold rotation axis passes through Co and the nitrato ligand.

In the title compound, [Co(CO 3 )(C 10 H 8 N 2 ) 2 ](CF 3 SO 3 ), the Co III ion is coordinated by four N atoms from two chelating 2,2 0 -bipyridine ligands and two O atoms from a bidentate chelating carbonate anion, and has a distorted octahedral environment. C-HÁ Á ÁO hydrogen bonding is observed
In the title compound, [Cd(NO~3~)(C~7~H~7~N~3~O~3~)~2~(H~2~O)]NO~3~, the Cd atom is coordinated by two organic ligands, a water molecule and a nitrate anion. The coordination can be described as distorted pentagonal bipyramidal. Geometric parameters show that the nitrate anion is coordinated in the
