โฆ Synopsis
Reexamination of the p~~~horescenc~ of_Ba2Pt~&Plb0s)4 reveals that the ==fO K spechum is a superpotition of two electronic transitions [3A2U(Eu,AIUj-AIg] separaied by -40 cm -l. Each band displays a prominent 110 cm-' vibrational progression_ Fran&-Condon analysis yields a 4l.25 S% distortion of the Pt-Pt bond in the exited states, interpreted as a contraction. * Fordyce et al. [If ori@n&y reported a diStortion of 0.43 A1 Rice arid Gray [2] subsequently discovered a calculation errar in this analysis and corrected the distortion value to 0.24 A..
