## Abstract The phosphonylation of cyano alcohols by means of phenylphosphonic oxide is described. α‐Cyano alcohols yield exclusively the corresponding α‐carbamidoalkyl phenylphosphonic monoesters, β‐cyano alcohols yield mainly the corresponding β‐cyanoalkyl phenylphosphonic monoesters, and γ‐ and

✦ Synopsis
Phenylphosphonic oxide reacts with diols to give the corresponding hydroxyalkylphenylphosphonic monoesters in very good yields.

Phenylphosphonic oxide reacts with halogenated alcohols to give the corresponding halogenoalkyl phenylphosphonic monoesters in very good yields.
## Abstract __p__‐Fluorophenyl phosphonic oxide reacts with different type of alcohols, and with tertiary alcohols in the presence of a tertiary base, to yield the corresponding __p__‐fluorophenyl phosphonic monoesters.
Treated with a primary or secondary alcohol, phenylphosphonic oxide (C~6~H~5~PO~2~)~n~ gives the corresponding phosphonic monoesters in very good yield.
The reaction of phenylphosphonic oxide with amines and amino‐alcools is described. Under appropriate conditions this reaction yields respectively the corresponding phosphonic mono‐amides and mono‐esters.
