โฆ Synopsis
The rate constant for the reaction of atomic oxygen (0( 3P)) with dimethylmercury has been measured at room temperature at a pressure of about 1 Tot-r using a fast flow system with electron paramagnetic resonance and mass spectrometric detection. Some reaction products were identified. The rate constant found is (2.5 *0.2)X10-" cm3 molecule-' s-'.

Classical trajectory studies have been carried out for the reaction of gas phase atomic O with H atoms chemisorbed on a corrugated tungsten surface. Most reactive events are found to occur in single-impact collisions on a subpicosecond scale via the Eley-Rideal mechanism producing highly excited OH.
