✦ Synopsis

Linewidths of isotropic

Raman bands of benzonitrile at 2223 and 452 cm-' were measured as a function of concentration in benzene solution. Experimental results have been compared with those calculated on the basis of the Fischer-Laubereau binary-collision dephasing model and the Knapp-Fischer concentration-fluctuation model. The dephasing model with a purely repulsive potential reproduces the experimental data for both bands.
