Abstract

The Raman spectra of poly‐L‐lysine hydrochloride and poly‐ϵ‐carbobenzoxy‐L‐lysine in the solid state have been obtained and are consistent with the presence of an α‐helical structure. The Raman spectrum of poly‐L‐lysine in aqueous solution suggests the presence of random coil structures.

## Abstract Raman spectra in the region 1000–150 cm^−1^ were measured for copoly(D,L‐alanines) with the D‐residue contents, 3, 7, 10, and 20%, and compared with the spectrum of the α‐helical poly‐L‐alanine. The 532‐ and 378‐cm^−1^ peaks were assigned to the L‐residues with a right‐handed α‐helix‐li

## Abstract Pronase E is able to hydrolyze poly‐L‐lysine in 100% yield into the monomer L‐lysine. The experiments show an intermediate production of tri‐L‐lysine and di‐L‐lysine that are clipped off from the polymeric peptide. During the hydrolytic process a number of characteristic amino acids are

Poly(2-pyridinium hydrochloride-2-pyridylacetylene) (P2EPH) is a water-soluble conjugated polymer that is fluorescent when excited in the visible region. The problems associated with this fluorescence have been overcome, thus permitting a Raman spectroscopic investigation of P2EPH. The fluorescence

## Abstract Complexes of polyribocytidylic acid and polyriboadenylic acid with poly(L‐lysine) and poly(L‐arginine) were studied by Raman spectroscopy. The backbones of both polynucleotides are distorted by poly(L‐arginine). On the other hand, poly(L‐lysine) could distort the backbone of polyriboade
