## Abstract The Raman spectrum of gaseous trichloroacetaldehyde (chloral) has been recorded from 20 to 3200 cm^−1^. A series of three transitions (83, 76, 69 cm^−1^) has been observed for the low frequency torsional mode. The barrier to internal rotation has been calculated to have a value of 1.17

## Abstract The medium resolution Raman spectrum of gaseous phenol has been recorded between 4000 and 50 cm^−1^ using the 5145 Å line of an argon laser. A number of __a__′ bands have been observed which correspond to previously assigned normal modes, but lines at 1388 and 1285 cm^−1^, which are not

Raman spectra of the and series were recorded in order to investigate the inÑuence of Ba x varying OÈO bond lengths on the Raman-active O-O stretching modes in each series, and to obtain additional information on the samples from this. In the barium peroxide series, the O-O stretching mode in the R
