Thin-layer chromatography of keto acid 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazones was carried out on plate coated with silica gel and sodium bicarbonate. A clear separation was obtained between most of the various keto acid hydrazones. The hydrazone was eluted from the plate with methanol containing 1% concentrate
