## Abstract Monodisperse poly (chloromethylstyrene‐co‐divinylbenzene) particles were firstly prepared by a two‐step swelling method. Based on this media, one kind of weak cation ion exchange packings was prepared. It was demonstrated that the prepared packings have comparative advantages for biopol

✦ Synopsis
The applications of zeolite-bearing tuffs depend in a great extent on their zeolite content. A single method to determine phillipsite in association with these materials is proposed. The method is based on the determination of the cation-exchange capacity (CEC), by using 1 M NH4CI as saturating solution of the exchange sites and measuring the NH~-removed by a solution of 1 M KCI. Results have been compared with those obtained by X-ray diffraction using the method of Chung, and also with those obtained by thermogravimetric analysis, according to the method of De'Gennaro and Colella. The results of this study show optimum correlation coefficients between the values of the percentage of phillipsite obtained by X-ray diffraction or thermogravimetric analysis and the CEC.
