β¦ Synopsis
The quadrupole interaction has been measured by ESR spectroscopy for the paramagnetic centers in irradiated KC103 zmd NaC103 which have previously been associated with ClOa radicals. The observed cylindriul quadrupole coupling is e2qQ = 42 + 3 MHz. a value consistent with the field gradient obtained from a modified extended Hiickel czlculation for ClOa. The calculation also yields unpaired spin populations in fair agreement with experiment.
