✦ Synopsis


The interrelationship between inherent proof-mass actuator and structural dynamic properties is investigated with the goal of determining optimal actuator passive characteristics given the structure and desired control objectives. A linear quadratic regulator problem is posed in which the coupling of actuator and structural dynamics is accounted for. Algorithms for determining the optimal passive actuator properties from the optimal active control law are examined. Examples are presented which demonstrate the developed algorithms.
