✦ Synopsis

Addition of Oz(iAg) to the reacting mixture of NHs and F atoms,is found to produce the NF(b 'X3 radicals, identified by the light emission at 529 and 562 nm. The energy transfer process Oz('Ag) + NF(a 'A& + 02 + NF(b IX+) explains the light emission.

The same chemiluminescent spectrum of HNO was obtained in both the reaction systems of 0(3P) + CaHe + NO + 02 (\* A,)/02 and H + NO + 02( 'Ag)/Oa. The reaction mechanism for producing the excited HNO is proposed to be -HNO('A') + 02 ( 'Ag) + HNO(3A", + 0s (3X,) , HNOc3A") + 02 ('A,) --t HNO('A") +

By study of the NH&F2 and NH,-F-Fz-CF,I reaction systems, the emission spectra of NH\*, NH, N2 and NF species are obtained. The F atoms are generated by microwave discharge. The species produced in the reaction system appear in the order: NH\*, NH, Nz, NF. The vibrational and rotational temperatures

Energy levels and ionization potentials for the NH4, H30 and H2F radicals are predicted using core analogies applied to the K-shell electron energy loss spectra of CHa, NH3 and HzO. respectively. In the case of the ammonium radical (NH4) excellent agreement is obtained with the results from theoreti
