β¦ Synopsis
Low-pressure flowing afterglow experiments with Ne carrier gas have been performed to obtam the initial Nz(B) vibrational distributions and the Nz@) formation rate constants for Xe(3P2) and Kr(3P,) excitation-transfer reactions to Nz. The N*(C) formation rate constant for Ar(3Pz) + N2 also was measured. The results are consistent with I very specific mteractlon mechanism favormg only a few of the many available esit channels.
