Abstract
Summary: Porous materials of Bombyx mori silk sericin were prepared by freezeβdrying. The effects of concentration of the sericin solution and that of freezing temperature on the structure and properties of materials were investigated. The results indicated that porous sericin materials, with average pore radius between 60 and 90 ΞΌm and porosity between 75 and 85%, could be prepared by freezeβdrying. Thicker solution and lower freezing temperature resulted in smaller pore radius and porosity and moreover, bigger pore density. The condensed structure of interior sericin was mainly amorphous, and contained some crystal structure. Compared to the nonβcrosslinked porous sericin materials, the content of the Ξ²βsheet structure of the sericin materials, crossβlinked by poly(ethylene glycol) diglycidyl ether, increased to some extent.

## Abstract **Summary:** The thermal and structural analysis of silk fibroin (SF) and silk sericin (SS) blend films reveals that the crystallization of SF is retarded in the presence of SS. Although a phase separation was observed, there might be a strong interaction at the boundary of the SF and S
Silk fibroin solution was prepared by dissolving the silk fibroin in triad solvent CaCl 2 β CH 3 CH 2 OH β H 2 O. In this article we tested and analyzed the state of frozen silk fibroin solution and fine structure of freeze dried porous silk fibroin materials. The results indicated that the glass tr
This review paper investigates the synthesis of porous structures with controlled hole pattern and provides an overall view of the various factors involved when synthesizing such porous materials. The following factors are discussed: 1) various methods of synthesis to produce the porous structures;
