A new chloride-silicate, "belinite", CasMg(Si04)4CI2, has been synthesized from a CaCI o flux. It crystalllzes in perfect octahedra (monoerysta~s). The structure determination revealed cubic symmetry, a = 15.084 ~, space group Fd~. Si-and Mg-atoms are tetrahedrally surrounded by oxygen, Ca occurs in
