✦ Synopsis

The length of the oviduct, the thickncss of its wall, and the height of its mucosal epithelium and cilia were measured in (a) 0-, 2-, 4and six-month-old rabbits, (b) rahbitq ovariectomizcd at birth and ( c ) ovariectomi7ed, estrogen-trcated rabbits. Thc length and extcrnal diameter of the oviduct increased progressivcly until four months of age, aftcr which their rates of increase declined. The thickness of the oviductal wall at (he uterotubal junction was twice as large as that of the isthmus at two months of age and six times as large at four and six months of age. The hcight of the mucosal epilheiium in the fiinbiiae was less than that in other oviductal segments at birth, hut exceeded that in other segrnents a1 six months of agc. Ciliated cells and motile cilia WCTC ahsent 24 hours after birth; they were firs1 observed two months after birth. The cilia of thc fimbrine were shorter than cilia elsewhere in the oviduct. Neonatal uvariectomy retarded the development of the oviduct and the masotubarium and caused pyknosis of ciliated and non-ciliated calls of the oviductal mucosa. Cells with scarcely rnolile cilia were present five and one-half months after nconatal ovarieclomy.

Twelve nulliparous New Zealand White female rabbits, and eight nulliparous Hereford heifers were used for profile analysis of the oviductal layers after in vivo and in vitro fixation of the oviducts. ## Abstract The subcortical projections of the rabbit striate cortex were studied by autoradiography. Small injections of ^3^H‐leucine were placed into the striate cortex of 15 rabbit pups aged between one day and one month and six adult rabbits (strain Chbb:Ch). Terminal fields of projection occur

We recently isolated an oviposition-inducing peptide that was identified as avian galanin from the oviducts of the Japanese quail. The tachykinin peptide innervation of the developing dorsal lateral geniculate nucleus of the rabbit was studied with immunocytochemical techniques at the light and electron microscopic levels by using an antibody directed to the C-terminal of the mammalian tachykinin peptides. At birth, the rabbit'
