  1. The catalytic condensation of dibromopyromellitic acid dianhydride (I) with liquid ammonia at high temperature yielded 1,4-diamino-pyromellitic acid diimide (111).

  2. Alkaline saponification of I11 and esterification of the resulting product gave tetramethyl diaminopyromellitate (V) and compound IV resp.

  3. The structure of compound IV as dimethyl ester of diaminopyromellitic acid monoanhydride is deduced from analytical data, absorption spectra, and from its reaction with diazomethane and aniline resp.

  4. The condensation of I1 with n-propylamine or n-butylamine gave the blue compounds 1,4-di-propylamino-pyromellitic acid di-propylimide (VIII) and 1,4-dibutylamino-pyromellitic acid di-butylimide (IX) resp.

## Abstract 1. The photochemical reactivity of testosterone (**1**) is strongly influenced by the nature of the solvent. Dimerization (β†’**18**), pinacone formation (β†’**19**)), reactions between the steroid and the solvent molecules (β†’**20a**, **20b**, **21**) and stereospecific isomerizations (β†’**2
