β¦ Synopsis
In this work we present a numerical study on the performance of optically amplified systems operating in optical networks considering both TDM and WDM techniques. Soliton and NRZ intensiv-modulated signals liarre been taken into account. Signal propagation has been siudied in ihe presence of chromatic dispersion, Kerr effect, polarizationmode dispersion, and the ASE noise of the optical amplifiers by numerically soliing [he nonlinear Schrodinger equation. The system performance is studied in terms of the Q factor. As a reference we have considered a metropolitan-area network with a star topology, and considerations on the ring networks and on the shufpe multihop networks are reported.

The authors have previously proposed a multicast routing method in LLN, in which a dynamically expanding/contract tree is introduced in the network, and ca
## Abstract In this paper, homowavelength crosstalk in optical packet networks is evaluated with the following aspects taken into consideration: device crosstalk coefficient, signal extinction ratio, traffic load, node size, and cascadability. Our results are very useful for the design of optical p
