โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

In this paper, homowavelength crosstalk in optical packet networks is evaluated with the following aspects taken into consideration: device crosstalk coefficient, signal extinction ratio, traffic load, node size, and cascadability. Our results are very useful for the design of optical packet networks. ยฉ 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) networks, when cells are lost due to congestion, packets containing the lost cells should be retransmitted in the transport layer, which manages the end-to-end communication. The probability that a packet contains at least one lost cell depends on the packet lengt

In this work we present a numerical study on the performance of optically amplified systems operating in optical networks considering both TDM and WDM techniques. Soliton and NRZ intensiv-modulated signals liarre been taken into account. Signal propagation has been siudied in ihe presence of chromat
