✦ Synopsis
esters [11] and the daphnane orthoester mezerein [12] have become important tools in cancer research at the cellular level and in mechanistic studies. The potentiation of 3PS activity of daphnane orthoesters by 2 could provide further insight into the mode of action of the antitumour activity of this type of compound. The effect appears to be dependent on the specific structure of 2, in particular the presence of three unconjugated double bonds in the fatty acid moiety which can be easily peroxidized [13].

Dopamine has been implicated as a potential mediating factor in a variety of neurodegenerative disorders. Dopamine can be oxidized to form a reactive dopamine quinone that can covalently modify cellular macromolecules including protein and DNA. This oxidation can be enhanced through various enzymes
Inactivation of immobilized penicillin acylase has been studied in the presence of substrate (penicillin G) and products (phenylacetic acid and 6-aminopenicillanic acid), underthe hypothesis that substances which interact with the enzyme molecule during catalysis will have an effect on enzyme stabil
