An efficient synthesis of 2-benzylimidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidines in water is accomplished via Pd/C-catalyzed reaction of 2-imino-1-(2-propynyl)pyrimidine with various aryl iodides in the presence of K 2 CO 3 as the base.
