Synthetic procedures and characterizing data. 3: To a solution of 2 (250 mg, 0.21 mmol) in pyridine was added 1.9 equivalents of HCl in Et 2 O (2.0 mL, 0.4 mmol). The resulting suspension was stirred for 2 h, after which the precipitate was isolated and dried under vacuum, to afford 152 mg, 71 % of 3 as a brown-yellow solid.
