โฆ Synopsis
Treatment of the diene-Fe(C0)3 complex (2) with dehydrated ferric chloride on silica gel support results in oxidative cyclisation of the alcohol function onto the diene ligand to give (3). This contrasts with the normal behaviour of both diene-Fe(C0)3 complexes and alcohols toward ferric chloride.

## Abstract A novel and green approach has been described for the synthesis of 2,3โdihydroโ1__H__โ1,5โbenzodiazepines from __o__โphenylenediamines and ketones using cerium(III) chloride/sodium iodide supported on silica gel under mild and heterogeneous conditions. The reactions are carried out at r
