Abstract
Optical millimeter‐wave (mm‐wave) generation based on an external modulator is proposed and simulately demonstrated.Both theoretical analysis and simulation results reveal that doubling‐frequency, quadrupling‐frequency, sextupling‐frequency, octupling‐frequency, decupling‐frequency, 12‐fold‐frequency, dual quadrupling‐frequency, or dual octupling‐frequency mm‐waves can be generated in this scheme. The frequency of local oscillator signal is largely reduced because frequency octupling, frequency decupling, or frequency 12‐fold mm‐wave is generated.
