✦ Synopsis

Abstract

A novel system configuration for optical generation of microwave/millimeter‐wave (mm‐wave), which is realized through Brillouin‐Erbium fiber laser (BEFL), is investigated. The microwave/mm‐wave is generated by the mixing of the __n__th‐order Stokes wave and the pump wave on the high‐speed photodetector. The __n__th‐order Stokes wave is generated in the BEFL and filtered out by fiber Bragg grating. The experiments are carried out based on such configuration, and experimental results verify the validity of it. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
