✦ Synopsis
In CCl.,/Ar and Ccl&r discharges the upper state (A 'A) of the 278 nm CC1 emission is populated by excitation of groundstate CCl(X TI) only at low CC& molar fractions. With increasing CCL content dissociative excitation of Ccl, into CCl(A 'A) dominates, while ground-state CC1 becomes increasingly consumed in a rapid reaction with Ccl,.
