The Hartree-Fock method is used to calculate the KG trawition energy for a number of configurations of different Fe ions. Experimental X-ray emission G shifts are combined with Massbauer isomer shifts to estimate the effective mtiguratioae of the iron ion.

The quasi-particle character off electrons (due to band mixing) in Eu chaicogenides, giving rise to Anderson's superexchange, is involved in order to correlate Mdssbauer parameters to bulk magnetic properties (isomer shifts and hyperfine fields). In this note we intend to discuss, in the light of r
