✦ Synopsis
The title compound, C 16 H 13 NO 2 , was synthesized by Nalkylation of 4-methylbenzyl bromide with phthalimide. The phthalimide ring system is essentially planar and forms a dihedral angle with the tolyl ring of 69.5 (6) .
