โฆ Synopsis
Here we report the complete nucleotide sequence of a third chitinase gene ( C H T l ) from the dimorphic human pathogen Candida albicans. The deduced amino acid (aa) sequence of Chtl consists of 416 aa and displays 36% protein sequence similarity to chitinases Cht2 and Cht3, from C. albicans. Interestingly the domain structure of Chtl is truncated when compared to the other chitinases of C. albicans and lacks a SerlThr-rich region.:The sequence data will appear in the GenBank Nucleotide Sequence Data Library under the accession number U36490.

We have cloned and sequenced a Candida albicans gene (SSB1) encoding a potential member of the heat-shock protein seventy (hsp70) family. The protein encoded by this gene contains 613 amino acids and shows a high degree (85%) of sequence identity to the ssb subfamily (ssb1 and ssb2) of the Saccharom
