β¦ Synopsis
f GΒ°(BaMo 2 O 7 , s, T ) has been determined using the emf technique. The cell used was: (-)Pt/(BaMo 2 O 7 (s)ΨBaMoO 4 (s) ΨMoO 2 (s))//CSZ//air (p(O 2 (g) β«Ψβ¬ 21.21 kPa)/Pt(Ψ). The observed emfs in the temperature range 828-985 K could be represented by E β«Ψβ¬ 0.7663 Ψ 4.953Ψ10
Ψ4 T (Ψ0.001) V. The standard molar Gibbs energy of formation of BaMo 2 O 7 (s) was evaluated from emf values and the f GΒ°(T) of BaMoO 4 (s) and MoO 2 (s). The corresponding expression is given as f GΒ°(BaMo 2 O 7 , s, T )β«3716.0Ψ7.9622ΨΨβ¬T (Ψ5.1) kJ mol Ψ1 . Using the required literature values, the f HΒ°(BaMo 2 O 7 , s, 298.15 K) was calculated by the second-law method and the corresponding value is !2291.2 kJ mol Ψ1 . The present study is the first experimental work for the determination of f GΒ°(BaMo 2 O 7 , s, T ).
