β¦ Synopsis
Science and technology of miniaturization is advancing at a rapid pace and being developed to demonstrate the unprecedented abilities for practical applications in chemistry, engineering and biology. Since 2001, a section dedicated to "Miniaturization" has become an integral part of each issue of the Electrophoresis journal. Recently, recognition of the importance of the field microfluidics has been obviously expressed in the annual special issue of the Journal on "Miniaturization". In 2008, the special issue on "Miniaturization in Asia Pacific" was launched, and has now become a yearly event. As the second issue in this series, this issue features 24 articles covering a spectrum of topics pertaining to fundamentals, basic technologies, detection approaches and applications, and it is expected to reflect the rapid progress of up-to-date microfluidics research in the Asia Pacific region.
