✦ Synopsis

The reactions of the cobalosime Co (DH); and the related Co(DOH)DOpn" are strongly catalyzed by cationic micelles of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTABr). The rate enhancements for the cobaloxime reaction and for that of Co (DOH)DOpn" (in parentheses) are: EtBr -1 (8.5); ,2-C, H, I Cl, 220 (200); CLCH,CO;, 420 (173); ClCH,CH,CO;, 373. Anionic micelles of sodium lauryl sulfate inhibit the reaction of Co(DOH)DOpn" with ClCH,CO;, but do not affect that with nC, H, x CL The reactions of Co(DOH)DOpn', like those of the cobaloxime, are SN_ 3 displacements and in the absence of surfactant in M&H n-PrBr is more reactive than iso-PrBr.
