## Summary **Background** : Increased insulin resistance is the major pathogenic mechanism in the development of non‐alcoholic steatohepatitis. **Aim** : To investigate the therapeutic effect of metformin, a well‐known insulin‐sensitizing agent, in the treatment of non‐alcoholic steatohepatitis.
