✦ Synopsis

Durjng the reaction o'ia mixture k~f AsC13 + 02 burning 'h the pr&ence of potassium vapor, thr'ee groups ofemission bands in the'regions 3300-3000 A,,5150-4150 _A, and 6500F5800 A, attnitited tb the diatomic mole& AsO were recorded. AnaIysis of these bands shows that the bands in the region SISO-41SO A form an exttinsion to the known A'-X system and the bauds in the region 6500-5800 A for-m a new band, system in As0 involving the ground state and an ~&per electronic state with we = 855 cm-l and "e J 16413 cm-:. A reaction mechanizm for the excita-'.

tion of As0 has been proposed which suggests a population inverkn of molecules in the A' 'lli std.

## Abstract The atmospheric reaction NO~2~ + O~3~ β†’ NO~3~ + O~2~ (1) has been investigated theoretically by using the MP2, G2, G2Q, QCISD, QCISD(T), CCSD(T), CASSCF, and CASPT2 methods with various basis sets. The results show that the reaction pathway can be divided in two different parts at the M
