โฆ Synopsis
A technique is described for measuring nanogram amounts of testosterone using high-performance liquid chromatography with detection by a fiow-through spectrophotometer. The addition of a non-radioisotopic internal standard @androsten-I I&&3, ! ?-&one) to the biological specimen automaticahy . . corrects for testosterone losses due to extraction and non-quantitative sample injection into the high-performance liquid chromatograph. This new method, which can be performed by inexperienced personnel, is shown to be rapid, precise; accurate and specific for testosterone.

A high-speed liquid chromatograph has been used with a new spectrofluorimetric detector, which is more sensitive than a normal ultraviolet absorption or spectrophotometric detector for fluorescent compounds. The spectrofluorimeter is equipped with double-beam optics and with a flow-cell, 3 ,ul in vo
