✦ Synopsis

Basic aspects of the problem of mass transfer accompanied by two step chemical reaction have been analysed using the film model. Analytical solutions for the rate of absorption are derived for the cases when the first reaction obeys a fast general order kinetics and when the first reaction is under instantaneous reaction mechanism. Some aspects of the problem, when the intermediate is volatile, are also considered.

## Abstract The present paper concerns the mechanism of mass transfer accompanied by a first‐order irreversible chemical reaction between two phases. Based on the film‐penetration concept a general mathematical model to describe the physico‐chemical behavior at the interface has been formulated. Ma
