Nineteen ninety-two has been a remarkable year, especially for natural gas prices. Since 1989, when wellhead gas prices were decontrolled, the average price of gas has fallen. In fact., every year since 1984 average wellhead gas prices have fallen.

However, in 1992 an amazing turnabout has occurred, with gas prices forthe year expected to be over 30 cents a thousand cubic feet higher than last year's prices. This summer, gas was selling at Henry Hub, Louisiana for an average of $1.76 a thousand cubic feet, compared to $1.23 a thousand cubic feet at the same
