β¦ Synopsis
The MCD spectra of hexachlorobemede, 1,3,5-t~ichlorobenzene, hexabromobenzene and 1,3,5-triiromobenzene have been measured. For each molecule, the Faraday A term was observed in the region of the *At& 'Etu transition and thereby the magnetic moment in the *E tu state was extracted. It appears that the magnihide of the magnetic moment m the 'El,, state has some relation to the nature and the number of the substituents.

## Abstract The circular dichroism (CD) and absorption spectra of uridine, thymidine, purine ribonucleoside, and the four adenine derivatives 2β²βdeoxyadenosine, adenosine, adenosineβ3β²,5β²βcyclic phosphate, and arabinosyl adenine were measured in water at pH 7 and pH 2. The absorption and CD spectra
The magnetic circular dichroism (MCD), induced circular dichroism (ICD) spectra, and the absorption spectra of N-bromophthalimide have been measured. The ICD spectrum of the b-cyclodextrin complex with Nbromophthalimide is also reported. The absorption bands of N-bromophthalimide are assigned. Intr
