✦ Synopsis
Abstract
A novel low‐profile broadband printed monopole antenna suitable for VHF operations on vehicles is presented. The proposed monopole antenna is printed on a flexible printed circuit board and then folded onto a cylindrical foam base. A constructed prototype suitable for operation in the 200‐MHz band is demonstrated. The prototype has a low profile of about 11 cm only (about 7% of the wavelength at 200 MHz) and shows a wide bandwidth (2.5:1 VSWR) of larger than 20%. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract A broadband low‐profile cylindrical monopole antenna, top‐loaded with a shorted circular patch, is presented. For 1800‐MHz operation, the antenna shows a low profile of only 11 mm, corresponding to about 6.6% of the wavelength at 1800 MHz. In addition, the antenna has a wide bandwidth (
## Abstract A broadband printed monopole antenna is proposed for digital communication systems (DCS‐1800), personal communication services (PCS1900), and international mobile telecommunication (IMT‐2000) tri‐band mobile devices. The proposed antenna is composed of two inverted L‐shaped monopoles, a
