✦ Synopsis

Abstract

A broadband low‐profile cylindrical monopole antenna, top‐loaded with a shorted circular patch, is presented. For 1800‐MHz operation, the antenna shows a low profile of only 11 mm, corresponding to about 6.6% of the wavelength at 1800 MHz. In addition, the antenna has a wide bandwidth (larger than 20%) covering the DCS (1710–1880 MHz) and PCS (1850–1990 MHz) bands and shows very good omnidirectional radiation. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract A novel broadband design of a thin circular microstrip antenna suitable for 1800 MHz band operation is demonstrated. Due to the embedding of reactive loading and slots in the ground plane, a broadband operation with its two resonant modes centered at about 1800 MHz has been obtained. Th

## Abstract A new design of a low‐profile metal‐plate antenna suitable for vehicular application in the 900‐MHz band covering the AMPS (824–894 MHz) and GSM (880–960 MHz) bands is presented. The proposed antenna is easily constructed by folding a long rectangular metal plate into a symmetrical conf
