✦ Synopsis
Abstract
A broadband low‐profile cylindrical monopole antenna, top‐loaded with a shorted circular patch, is presented. For 1800‐MHz operation, the antenna shows a low profile of only 11 mm, corresponding to about 6.6% of the wavelength at 1800 MHz. In addition, the antenna has a wide bandwidth (larger than 20%) covering the DCS (1710–1880 MHz) and PCS (1850–1990 MHz) bands and shows very good omnidirectional radiation. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
