Abstract
A low‐profile metal‐plate monopole antenna for mobile handset operating over Digital‐TV (DTV; 470–850 MHz) frequency band is proposed. The antenna consists of a folded rectangular patch and two slits, and has a small volume of 65 × 25 × 5 mm^3^. The measured return loss for the proposed antenna at DTV frequency band is better than 10 dB. The antenna has omni‐directional or monopole‐like radiation patterns, with good antenna gain even for such a compact size. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
