✦ Synopsis
A no¨el all-optical linearization technique of electroab-( ) sorption EA optical modulators by using a dual modulation scheme is proposed and theoretically in¨estigated. Reductions of the third-order intermodulation products of ;30 dB and the subsequent increase of the spurious-free dynamic range of ;20 dB were achie¨ed in subocta¨e narrowband operation.

## Abstract We design and fabricate a traveling‐wave electroabsorption modulator for RF/optic conversion. The RF gain is measured with a simple RF/optic link. It is related to the optical transfer curve. The input optical power causes the change of the transfer curve so that the RF gain varies acco

We propose a new electroabsorption modulator EAM structure where the linearity is impro¨ed by means of appropriately changing the absorption profile along the de¨ice length. As a practical implementation, a selecti¨e-area-grown MQW᎐EAM was in¨estigated. Compared with a con¨entional EAM, the linearit
