β¦ Synopsis
Abstract
An efficient linear cavity Brillouin fiber laser (BFL) is demonstrated using a standard single mode fibre (SMF), an optical coupler and a fiber Bragg grating (FBG). The laser peak is obtained at β4.5 dBm with a Brillouin pump of 14 dBm. The use of a 99/1 optical coupler shows the highest output because of the low loss in the cavity. The BFLs can be used to reduce the laser linewidth and technical noise. PACS: 42.60.Da; 42.81.βi; 42.81.Wg; 42.81.Uv Β© 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract A simple fiberβBraggβgrating (FBG) sensor system based on a linearβcavity fiber laser is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The lasing wavelength shift resulting from the temperature variation on this sensing element is discriminated by two FBGs. These two FBGs, acting as wavelen
A linear cavity short wavelength band Brillouin/Erbium fiber laser (S-band BEFL) is demonstrated. The architecture utilizes a bi-directional oscillation provided by two optical circulators at both ends of the laser cavity. Therefore, the number of channel is higher in this BEFL compared with the rin
This paper reports on a Q-switched Er-doped fiber laser using the stress dependence of a wavelength of reflected light from fiber Bragg gratings. The laser cavity consists of a 0.5-m-long Er-doped fiber and two fiber gratings (FG) attached at both ends of the fiber. The pump laser is a 1.48 mm semic
A short wavelength band erbium-doped fiber laser (S-band EDFL) is demonstrated utilizing a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) in unidirectional ring configuration. The amplification in S-band is achieved using an erbium-doped fiber with depressed cladding, which suppressed gains at longer wavelength. The las
A linear cavity Brillouin fiber laser (BFL) is proposed and demonstrated for multi-wavelength operation. The BFL uses a single mode fiber (SMF) as a non-linear gain medium and an optical circulator to generate a linear cavity resonator. Two couplers are used to inject the Brillouin Pump (BP) and tap
