In this paper, a multiwavelength linear-cavity Brillouin-Erbium fiber laser pumped by a 1480 nm pump laser is demonstrated to operate in the L-band region. The issue of low gain efficiency of L-band in Erbium-doped fiber pumped with 980 nm pump lasers is resolved with this pumping scheme. The amount

✦ Synopsis
A linear cavity short wavelength band Brillouin/Erbium
fiber laser (S-band BEFL) is demonstrated. The architecture
utilizes a bi-directional oscillation provided by two optical
circulators at both ends of the laser cavity. Therefore, the
number of channel is higher in this BEFL compared with the
ring-based S-band BEFL. A stable output laser comb with 11
channels was obtained with Brillouin and 980 nm pumps of 9.4 mW
and 206.5 mW, respectively at around 1503 nm region. The BEFL has
the potential to be used in the future dense wavelength division
multiplexing communication system.

## Abstract In this paper, the generation of a multiwavelength laser source from a Brillouin‐Erbium fiber laser in the long wavelength band (L‐band) region is experimentally demonstrated. The proposed laser system utilizes a Fabry–Pérot cavity formed by fiber‐loop mirrors. Twenty‐four lines of Bril
We have demonstrated a new configuration of Brillouin-Erbium fiber laser, in which the Brillouin pump is pre-amplified within the laser cavity before entering the single-mode fiber. By using this simple scheme, a lower external Brillouin pump power is required to create the Brillouin gain and suppre
A linear cavity Brillouin fiber laser (BFL) is proposed and demonstrated for multi-wavelength operation. The BFL uses a single mode fiber (SMF) as a non-linear gain medium and an optical circulator to generate a linear cavity resonator. Two couplers are used to inject the Brillouin Pump (BP) and tap
